Future-soul luminary Emma Volard returns with their long-awaited single 'Shinin'. Echoing influences of classic 90's house with neo-soul and bruk, 'Shinin' cascades into a brooding ear-worm made for the rough-edges of an underground dancefloor. Shinin' toys with vocal chops, lush keyscapes and electronic sensibilities in a song that explores the process of grief, healing and immense isolation.
"I wrote "Shinin" as a shoulder to lean on to a friend who was in a dark place. I wanted to let her know that I was there, and to be gentle with herself. It's an ode to growth, and a statement that even in your darkest times, you will heal and you will shine again." says Emma Volard.
On the outside,
Guarding your own line,
Drifting away,
Mind is cloudin you,
Scattered settling,
Silence deafening,
Reaching out my hand,
Grab on to me
Thoughts grow louder, speaking softer, I can see your, fighting someone’s battle, that isn’t yours,
Empathy’s, double-edged sword, breaks your skin, I’ll be here to bear your fall, when you let go,
Shining, Shining, Watch em take cover, you are worthy of your final form
Shining, Shining, Watch em take cover, you are worthy of your final form
You’re waiting for something,
A glimmering world,
Mindlessly scrolling,
Digging for gold,
Been scripted by design,
Break the mould again
Life burns you slowly,
So all we know the pain,
Changing is fated,
Even time can’t explain,
And joy trumps disdain,
Yet it’s bigger than that
Shining, Shining, Watch em take cover, you are worthy of your final form
Shining, Shining, Watch em take cover, you are worthy of your final form
